En 1874 le 1er ministre Canadien Sir John
A. Mc Donald va décider de créer une
police à cheval dans le Nord Ouest pour
faire régner l’ordre et la loi afin d'établir des relations amicales avec les
Amérindiens dans la région.
Ainsi est née la mythique Police Montée
vêtue d’une tunique rouge pour la différencier du bleu de l’armée Américaine.
Elle aura plusieurs nominations La NWMP
(North West Mounted Police) et RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police).
